The California-born 24-year-old, who has also announced his signing to Asthmatic Kitty, has been writing music since the age of 14, so it's no wonder this latest cut sounds as assured as it does. Lo-fi, acoustic guitar plucks away, paving the way for De Augustine's hushed, Elliott Smith-nodding vocal work. It's a beguiling, laid-bear effort from the attention-demanding singer-songwriter who seems set to follow in the footsteps of label buddy Sufjan Stevens. -G.O'B
